Brentwood's free Veterans Day ceremony is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Police Headquarters, the future site of a $1.5 million veterans monument now raising funds.
Brentwood will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Brentwood Police Headquarters, 910 Heritage Way. It is free and open to the public.
The city announced the ceremony in a news release on Monday, Oct. 19.
“The Brentwood community has always sought to honor the service and sacrifices of our service members, and this ceremony is a way of thanking those men and women who provide the freedoms we enjoy every day,” Vice Mayor Rhea Little III said in the release.
The speaker
The keynote speaker is retired Brig. Gen. Michael Scholes, deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services. The city lists his earlier posts as:
- special assistant to the director of the Army National Guard, in Arlington, Virginia
- chief of staff of the NATO-led Kosovo Force
- director of operations, training and exercises for Joint Task Force-Civil Support, U.S. Northern Command
Why the police headquarters
The city chose the site because it will become the home of Brentwood’s veterans monument.
The city formed a Veterans Monument Ad Hoc Committee in June 2025, with Little as chair. The committee hired Hodgson Douglas Landscape Architects to design the monument. The City Commission approved the final concept plans in May 2026, the city’s Veterans Monument Project page says.
The committee has started a campaign to raise $1.5 million. The plan is to pay for the monument through private donations, and full design work will begin once half of that target is raised. The city has not published how much has come in so far, or a construction date.
The project page shows renderings of the monument from several angles and a site plan.
What it means for you
- Going? Be at 910 Heritage Way before 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. There is no charge. The release does not mention parking or a rain plan; the city’s main number is (615) 371-0060.
- Want to give to the monument? Donations can be made through the city’s donations page, or with a pledge card on the project page. The city is not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It says gifts for a public purpose may be deductible because it is a government unit, and it advises donors to check with a tax professional.
More dates for November are in things to do in Brentwood this month, and our free things to do list carries the ceremony too.
