What the inspector recorded at Sicilian Pizza & Pasta
The Oct. 14 report lists these observations, among others:
- an employee cutting raw washed onions with bare hands. The manager had the employee wash hands and put on gloves.
- raw meat being thawed in a hand sink in the pho cooking area. It was moved to a cooler.
- raw beef, raw shell eggs and raw shrimp stored next to or above vegetables and ready-to-eat food in coolers. The report says the items were moved.
- cooked sliced beef at 45 degrees on top of a prep cooler rail. It was moved inside the cooler.
- no date marks on prepped egg rolls, cooked lasagna and cooked vegetable broth. Stickers were added during the visit.
- house-made broth thawing at room temperature, cooked food stored on the walk-in cooler floor and cardboard lining shelves
Most items carry a note that the problem was corrected or explained during the inspection. The report also records items the restaurant had right, including that food was in good, sound condition and that food contact surfaces were cleaned and sanitized properly.
The restaurant can give its side. If it does, we will add its response here.
