TDOT is resurfacing I-65 through Brentwood with lane closures 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through Dec. 31. Ragsdale Road widening runs to 2027.

Two road agencies work in Brentwood. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) runs I-65 and the numbered state routes, including Franklin Road (US 31), Concord Road (SR-253), Old Hickory Boulevard (SR-254) and Wilson Pike (SR-252). The city of Brentwood builds and maintains city streets and runs its own widening projects, which take about 46% of the city’s capital budget for fiscal years 2025 to 2029.

TDOT expects to finish by Dec. 31, 2026, according to its Oct. 9 announcement. That stretch covers the Concord Road (Exit 71) and Old Hickory Boulevard (Exit 74) interchanges.

City projects under construction
Ragsdale Road widening. The city is widening Ragsdale Road from Split Log Road to north of Glenellen Way into a three-lane road with a center turn lane, curb and gutter and an intermittent raised median. A 10-foot bike and pedestrian path will run on the south side and a 6-foot sidewalk on the north. Construction began in October 2024. The city lists a bonus completion date of the end of 2026 and final completion in April 2027, on the project page.
Traffic signals and ADA curb ramps. Public Works’ Traffic Operations Division is installing new traffic signals on mast arms with underground wiring, and rebuilding curb ramps, pedestrian signals and sidewalks under the city’s ADA retrofit program.
Street paving. Each year Public Works scans every city street and picks roads to mill and pave, resurface or rejuvenate. The fiscal 2026 paving list and map are on the city’s site. Milling crews come back one to four weeks later to pave. Street parking is not allowed while a street is being paved, and the city may tow a car it cannot get moved.
Coming next
- McEwen Drive extension. Brentwood and Franklin are extending McEwen Drive from Wilson Pike to the Taramore subdivision as a four-lane divided road with a sidewalk and a multi-use path. Right-of-way purchases were set for summer 2025 and construction for fall 2026, according to the project page. The city says it will offer an east-west alternative to Concord Road, Crockett Road, Moores Lane and Split Log Road.
- Old Smyrna Road. The western three-quarters of a mile between Jones Parkway and the city limit is only about 15 feet wide. The city is still in design and public meetings, the last on Aug. 18, 2025, and says historic features such as the stone walls will be considered. See the Old Smyrna Road page.
- Sunset Road, from Ragsdale Road to Waller Road at the city limit: three lanes and a 10-foot path, construction expected in 2030. Nolensville plans to widen its section to Nolensville Road.
- Split Log Road phases 3A (Sam Donald Road to Sunset and Waller roads, expected 2030) and 3B (Pleasant Hill Road to Sam Donald Road, expected 2033).
All active city sites are on the city’s capital projects map.
