Kids in Brentwood: free library story times most weekdays, Crockett Park and Granny White playgrounds, the splash park and rainy-day picks.

Last checked Oct. 18, 2026. Program times come from the John P. Holt Brentwood Library calendar; playground details from the City of Brentwood; pool and splash pad from Williamson County Parks and Recreation. Library programs change by season, so check the calendar before you go.

Brentwood’s best free thing for small children is the library, which runs a story time or play program almost every weekday morning, and its parks, with two big playgrounds and a riverside path for scooters. For water play, the county’s splash park on Heritage Way opens again in May.

  • River Park, 1100 Knox Valley Drive, across from the library: a playground, restrooms and a two-mile riverside path for bikes and scooters.

Water play

The county’s Brentwood Splash Park at the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way, has slides, ground and ring sprays and a 100-gallon dump bucket. It is closed for the season and reopens in May 2027. The indoor 50-meter pool next door is open year-round, but only for lap swimming, water aerobics and swim lessons, the county says. More in our summer camps and pools guide.

Rainy-day picks

  • The library, above, open most days with a program for nearly every age.
  • Swim lessons at the Indoor Sports Complex; sign up through the county’s registration site.
  • Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, 3777 Nolensville Pike in Nashville, about seven miles north: open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the zoo says. Ticket prices vary by day of the week, the zoo says.
