Crockett Park is home to the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater, where the free Summer Concert Series and the Fourth of July fireworks are held, and the historic Cool Springs House. It has eight multipurpose fields, eight lighted baseball and softball diamonds, seven lighted tennis courts, a nature trail, paved paths, an 18-hole disc golf course and the Brentwood Community Playground, built by volunteers in 1993, with castle-style towers, tire swings and rubberized paths. The new Brentvale Pavilion can now be rented. An indoor soccer facility inside the park is run by Williamson County Parks and Recreation, 615-377-6530.

Marcella Vivrette Smith Park is the city’s largest park. Brentwood bought 320 acres of the historic Ravenswood Farm in December 2010 and 80 more acres in late 2013, and the park opened Nov. 8, 2014. It has more than six miles of rugged hiking trails (trail map, PDF) and a mountain bike trail system that opened in April 2024 (bike map, PDF). The only restroom is at the main trailhead; bring water. Ravenswood Mansion, built in 1825, stands in the park.

Granny White Park, 32 acres next to Brentwood Middle and High schools, has the Miles Together inclusive playground, for which Brentwood’s two Rotary clubs raised money with the city starting in 2021, plus walking trails, four lighted tennis courts, ball fields and the Rotary Pavilion for up to 150 people.

Windy Hill Park, the newest, is a 52-acre passive park on Old Smyrna Road with a custom playground and picnic tables and no athletic fields. It opened Dec. 13, 2025. Its small shelter is first come, first served.

Trails and greenways

  • The Brentwood bikeway follows the Little Harpeth River. River Park’s two-mile path connects Crockett Park at one end with Concord Park at the other, and Primm Park acts as another entrance. The city’s trail system map (PDF) shows the whole network.
  • Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Center, 320 Deerwood Lane: 27 acres on the river with paved and unpaved trails lined with more than 70 tree species, ponds, a wildflower meadow and an outdoor classroom. It is a state-certified Level 2 arboretum, on the site of a former city wastewater plant.
  • Maryland Farms Greenway Trail: a paved trail through Maryland Farms from Powell Park to the WCRC Tennis Center, dawn to dusk, foot traffic only.

Dog parks

Miss Peggy’s Bark Park, in the southwest corner of Tower Park off Heritage Way, has two fenced areas: about 1.5 acres for dogs over 25 pounds and a little over half an acre for small dogs. Open 6 a.m. to dusk. It is named for Peggy Sain Howell, a longtime park advocate who died in 2018.

History in the parks

Primm Park, 31 acres on Moores Lane East, has the Boiling Spring Academy schoolhouse, about 1830, and five Native American mounds from around 1200 A.D. It is open dawn to dusk to foot traffic only; tours run the third Sunday of the month, April through December. More in our history and landmarks guide.
