Brentwood trails: the two-mile River Park bikeway, six-plus miles of hiking and bike trails at Smith Park, Deerwood Arboretum, Maryland Farms.

Last checked Oct. 18, 2026. Distances, hours and rules come from each park’s page on the City of Brentwood parks site and its trail maps; Radnor Lake details from Tennessee State Parks.

Brentwood’s paved trail network, the Brentwood Bikeway, follows the Little Harpeth River on the east side of the city and ties several parks together. For dirt and hills, Smith Park has more than six miles of hiking trail and the city’s mountain bike trails. The city’s trail system map (PDF) covers the east side.

The Brentwood Bikeway and River Park

River Park, 46 acres across Knox Valley Drive from the library, has a two-mile bikeway and walking path along the Little Harpeth River, connecting with Crockett Park at one end and Concord Park at the other. It has a playground, restrooms, an outdoor basketball court and a reservable shelter. Open dawn to dusk.

  • North end: Concord Park, on Concord Road across from the WSM tower, is the city’s suggested place to start a walk or jog, with paths, practice fields and open lawn.
  • South end: Crockett Park, 1500 Volunteer Parkway, has its own paved walking paths, bikeways and a nature trail. The park road is one-way counterclockwise at 20 mph, and the inside lane is kept for runners, walkers and cyclists, under the city’s park rules.
  • Side entrance: Primm Park on Moores Lane East connects to and extends the bikeway. It is open dawn to dusk to foot traffic only, and has the Boiling Spring Academy schoolhouse and five Native American mounds.
  • Tower Park, 920 Heritage Way, has walking and biking trails around the WSM broadcast tower and is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Smith Park: hiking and mountain biking

Marcella Vivrette Smith Park, 1825 Wilson Pike, is the city’s largest park, opened in 2014 on the former Ravenswood Farm.

  • Hiking: more than six miles of rugged, color-coded trails. Download the hiking trail map (PDF) before you go.
  • Mountain biking: the trail system opened in April 2024 and is still growing; the city’s bike trail map (PDF) is a preliminary version updated as trails are added.
  • Before you go: the only restroom is at the main trailhead by the parking lot. The city says to bring plenty of water and good shoes or hiking boots.
  • Worth finding: an EnChroma viewfinder for people with color blindness, on the hill with benches early on the red/blue trail.

Deerwood Arboretum

Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Center, 320 Deerwood Lane, is a 27-acre park along about half a mile of the Little Harpeth River, with paved and unpaved walking trails lined by more than 70 tree species, ponds and a wildflower meadow. Besides the main entrance at the end of Deerwood Lane, a quarter-mile right-of-way trail connects it to Belle Rive Drive. Pick up the tree guide (PDF) for a self-guided walk.

Maryland Farms Greenway

The Maryland Farms Greenway Trail is a paved path a little under a mile long from Powell Park, behind Tractor Supply on Virginia Way, to the county tennis center on Maryland Way, near Hill Center’s shops and restaurants. On foot only, dawn to dusk. See our Hill Center and Maryland Farms guide.

Neighborhood loops

  • Granny White Park, 32 acres next to Brentwood Middle and High schools: walking and exercise trails, restrooms by the ball fields and the playground.
  • Owl Creek Park, 9751 Concord Road, 21 acres: walking paths, a playground and restrooms.

Just over the line: Radnor Lake

Radnor Lake State Park, 1160 Otter Creek Road in Nashville, just north of Brentwood, is a 1,389-acre natural area. The paved Otter Creek Road and Hall Drive are relatively flat; South Cove and Ganier Ridge trails climb more than 200 feet. Parking is only in marked spaces, which fill quickly in good weather, and pets are allowed only on Otter Creek Road, Hall Drive and the dam.

Trail rules

  • Dogs on a leash and under control everywhere except the Tower Park dog park.
  • No motorized vehicles on paths, trails or grass.
  • No alcohol or smoking in city parks.
  • Parks that close at dusk treat anyone inside after closing as trespassing.
