State report card
Tennessee gives every public school an A-F letter grade. The Department of Education says the grades are meant “to provide a snapshot of how each school performed during the previous academic year,” according to its school letter grades page. The grade combines four indicators, each scored from 1 to 5: student achievement, academic growth, growth of the highest-need students and, for high schools only, college and career readiness.
Scales Elementary earned a B for 2024-25, the latest grades published, with an overall score of 3.5 out of 5 in the state’s letter grade file.
| Indicator | Score (1 to 5) |
|---|---|
| Achievement | 5 |
| Growth | 2 |
| Growth of highest-need students | 2 |
| Overall success rate, all students, 2024-25 tests | 74.7% |
Scales’ achievement score was the top mark of 5. Its two growth scores, 2 each, pulled the overall grade to a B.
Spring 2026 TCAP tests (share of students who met or exceeded expectations, from the state’s 2026 school assessment file):
| Subject | Met or exceeded | Valid tests |
|---|---|---|
| English language arts, grades 3-5 | 79% | 348 |
| Math, grades 3-5 | 76.5% | 349 |
| Science | 72.5% | 349 |

Attendance zone and feeder schools
Check any address with the WCS zoned school finder (abbreviate the street type, leave the ZIP code blank) or on the district’s school zone maps. You must live in Williamson County to attend WCS. Out-of-zone requests open Feb. 4 and close April 15, and out-of-zone students do not get bus service.
Scales Elementary feeds Brentwood Middle and then Brentwood High, according to the WCS zone maps, as drawn in the 2023 board-approved boundaries published in the City of Franklin’s planning GIS, and Brentwood High’s history page. Comparing the maps with the Census Bureau’s city boundary, the Scales zone covers the west side of Brentwood and continues west beyond the city limits into unincorporated Williamson County. Zones follow streets, not city limits, so confirm any address with the zoned school finder.
